Tips & Tidbits

The following are tips and suggestions that we have picked up from family, friends and others over the years as well as some just from trial and error. We hope that you will return often as we will be adding to the list on a regular basis.

  • When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness.  NEW

  • Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal for the inside. This way you can tell which side has the streaks.  NEW

  • Don't throw out the leftover wine, freeze into cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

  • Use an empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance the cord belongs to.

  • Flies or bees bothering you? Spray them with hairspray and they will take a quick dive.

  • Permanent marker on appliances or counter tops can generally be removed with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.

  • Blood stains on clothes? Just pour a little hydrogen peroxide on a cloth and wipe off the blood.
